RESPECTFUL RELATIONSHIPS
OUR COMMITMENT
John’s is committed to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful community. We believe every student has the right to feel safe, valued and supported, and we actively promote a culture of dignity, care and responsibility.
What it means to have respectful relationships
Respectful relationships at John’s are built on trust, clear communication and mutual respect. This includes understanding consent, respecting personal boundaries, valuing diversity, and treating one another with kindness and consideration.
As a residential and academic community, we set a high standard of excellence for all members, both students and staff. The College has no tolerance for behaviour that demeans, harasses, discriminates, exploits or results in assault. Download our Respectful Relationships Policy here.
OUR APPROACH
Education and awareness
We provide ongoing education through orientation programs, workshops and student leadership training to promote healthy relationships, consent and inclusive behaviour across our community.
Support and reporting
If you experience or witness behaviour that makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, you are encouraged to seek support or make a confidential report. All concerns are treated seriously, sensitively and respectfully.
John’s uses the RespectX platform to support our commitment to a safe, inclusive and respectful community. RespectX provides a secure and confidential way to report concerns and seek support if something isn’t right.
The platform has been designed by experts to be simple and supportive, recognising that it can be difficult to come forward. You can choose to make a report anonymously, confidentially, or with your details.
