Annie Fletcher-Nichols
1976 - 1978
Among the first cohort of women to live at John XXIII College, Annie Fletcher-Nicholls (Annabelle) arrived in 1976 and remained in residence until completing her Arts degree at the Australian National University in 1978, majoring in Psychology and Anthropology. Her time at the College marked an important transition into adult life, where she built lifelong friendships and developed the confidence that would shape her future career.
After graduating, Annie established a successful career in public affairs, public relations and corporate communications. She worked across the corporate sector before founding her own consulting business, later becoming Managing Director of one of Australia’s largest public relations firms. Her experience also extended into the political sphere, where she provided communications and strategic advice. In the later stages of her career she brought her expertise to governance roles, serving on several boards including Docklands Studios Melbourne and Seymour Health, where she chaired the board for a number of years.
Alongside her professional career, Annie has maintained a strong commitment to community service. She became the first female President of the Rotary Club of Sydney Cove and volunteered for many years with Children First Farm, supporting young people through agricultural and education programs. Throughout her life she has been motivated by the opportunity to guide and support others, using her experience to help create opportunities and strengthen communities.
