Catherine Coles
2003 - 2005
Family law specialist Catherine Coles works at the forefront of legal advocacy for families and children, supporting clients through some of the most complex and sensitive matters in the justice system. She lived at John XXIII College from 2003 to 2005 while studying at the Australian National University, where she completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) and Bachelor of Laws before beginning her legal career in Canberra.
Catherine began her professional journey with Legal Aid ACT, gaining extensive experience working with families navigating the legal system. She is now an Accredited Specialist in Family Law and a Founding Director of Parker Coles Curtis, an award-winning, all-female-led family law firm based in Canberra that supports clients nationally and internationally. In addition to her work as a solicitor, Catherine is appointed by the courts as an Independent Children’s Lawyer, representing the interests of children in complex and high-conflict parenting matters.
Alongside her professional work, Catherine is deeply committed to community service and improving access to justice. She has held elected and volunteer roles within the ACT Law Society, including serving as a Council Member and Chair of the Family Violence and Children’s Committee. She also provides regular pro bono advice to the Women’s Legal Centre and, together with her colleagues, supports a wide range of Canberra charities including Karinya House, Menslink, Roundabout, Fearless Women, YWCA Canberra, Hands Across Canberra and the Domestic Violence Crisis Service.
