THE FIRST CHAPTER BOOK
The Story Behind Johns
Every community has a beginning. For John XXIII College, that story is now being captured in The First Chapter, a new book by College historian and longtime friend of Johns, Dr Ian Walker.
Drawing on archival records, photographs, personal recollections and historical research, The First Chapter chronicles the formative years of the College and the people who helped shape its identity. It tells the story of a community finding its place, establishing traditions and creating the foundations of the Johns experience that continues today.
Dr Walker has been closely connected with the College for many years and has played an important role in preserving and sharing its history. His passion for the stories, achievements and experiences of generations of students has helped ensure that the rich heritage of Johns remains accessible to current students, alumni and the wider community.
More than a history book, The First Chapter is a celebration of the people who built the College and the lifelong connections that have emerged from it. It offers readers a chance to rediscover familiar faces, memorable moments and the spirit that has defined Johns since its earliest days. As we continue to write new chapters in the College story, The First Chapter reminds us where it all began.
