Jacinta Spurrett
1990 - 1991
Marketing and communications executive Jacinta Spurrett has built a career leading brand strategy, partnerships and organisational growth across major media and cultural institutions. She lived at John XXIII College from 1990 to 1991 while studying a Bachelor of Arts in Communication at the University of Canberra, describing her time at the College as one of the most formative and joyful periods of her life. The friendships, sense of community and culture of support she experienced at Johns shaped her belief in the power of connection and collaboration.
Over more than two decades Jacinta has held senior leadership roles across both the commercial and not-for-profit sectors. She served as Managing Director of National Geographic Channel Australia and New Zealand, leading the channel’s brand and operations across the region, and later as Managing Director of Sydney public relations firm Prue MacSween and Associates. She also worked as Chief Executive Officer of the Eye Surgeons’ Foundation, overseeing philanthropic initiatives that supported eye health research and sight-saving programs in Australia and internationally.
In 2016 Jacinta joined the Australian Museum as Director of Marketing, Communications, Partnerships and Philanthropy, where she sits on the Executive Leadership Team and oversees the museum’s marketing, partnerships, commercial development, digital strategy, membership and visitor experience. Her leadership has helped expand the museum’s reach and community engagement and she played a key role in planning the Australian Museum’s 200th anniversary celebrations. Across her career she has remained passionate about mentorship, lifelong learning and strengthening institutions that connect people with knowledge, culture and each other.
