Jackie Parry
2015 - 2017
Elite athlete and finance professional Jackie Parry balances a career in consulting with competing at the highest level of Australian Rules football in the AFL Women’s competition. She lived at John XXIII College from 2015 to 2017 while studying a Bachelor of Commerce and Business Administration at the Australian National University. During this time she rediscovered her passion for Australian Rules football, first representing the College and then joining the ANU Griffins. As a junior she had played football with the boys at Prahran Football Club in Melbourne, but when girls were no longer permitted to continue in the competition she moved to soccer. Returning to the sport at university marked a significant and meaningful reconnection with the game she had loved growing up.
Jackie later joined the Queanbeyan Tigers in the AFL Canberra Women’s competition, where her performances as a forward led to her selection by the Melbourne Demons in the 2019 AFLW Draft. She made her debut in Round 4 of the 2020 season at Marvel Stadium, and after three seasons with Melbourne was traded to the Geelong Cats, where she continues to compete as a key forward.
Alongside her football career, Jackie has developed a strong professional path in finance. After graduating from ANU she joined KPMG’s CFO Advisory team, where she completed her Chartered Accountant qualification while continuing to compete at the elite level. She has now spent more than six years with KPMG. Passionate about the continued growth of women’s football, Jackie hopes her journey both on and off the field will inspire the next generation of boys and girls who dream of playing the game.
