Lee Constable

2009 - 2011

Science communicator, presenter and author Lee Constable has built a career translating complex environmental and scientific ideas into engaging stories for broad audiences. She lived at John XXIII College from 2009 to 2011 while studying a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts at the Australian National University, majoring in environmental science alongside sociology and drama. During her time at Johns she served as Green Representative, an experience that sparked her interest in helping communities engage with sustainability in creative and accessible ways.

Lee is best known as the host of the children’s science and technology television program Scope (Network 10) and the educational series Explainer Hacks (ABC Education). She has also appeared on national programs including ABC News Breakfast and War on Waste, and regularly works as a factual presenter, MC and science communicator across television, live events and digital media. Her children’s books, How to Save the Whole Stinkin’ Planet (2019) and How to Save the Whole Blinkin’ Planet (2024), introduce young readers to environmental challenges such as waste and energy through adventurous storytelling. She is also the founder of Co-Lab: Science Meets Street Art, which brings scientists and street artists together to create large-scale murals and public conversations around complex social and environmental issues.

Raised on her family’s sheep farm in rural New South Wales during the millennium drought, Lee developed an early interest in the environment that continues to shape her work. Alongside her presenting career she is completing a PhD in environmental communication at UNSW and collaborates with organisations across sectors to produce accurate, entertaining content on science and sustainability.
