Liz Nable
(nee O'Gorman)
1996 - 1998
Communications strategist and entrepreneur Liz Nable is widely recognised for helping individuals and organisations tell their stories with authenticity and impact. She lived at John XXIII College from 1996 to 1998 while studying at the Australian National University, where the friendships and independence she developed during her college years helped shape her interest in communication, media and public storytelling.
Liz began her career as a television news reporter and producer, working both in Australia and internationally, including in New York City. Her experience in broadcast journalism gave her a strong understanding of media, public narrative and the role storytelling plays in shaping public conversation. After returning to Australia she transitioned into entrepreneurship, founding Xtend Barre Mosman in 2011 and introducing the barre fitness concept to the Australian market. Over eight years she grew the business to four studios across Sydney’s Northern Beaches, before selling part of the business in 2020.
Recognised as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Women in Franchising and awarded the Franchise Council of Australia’s Woman of the Year in 2019, Liz now works as a communications adviser and business consultant. Drawing on her background as a television news reporter and producer, she brings a deep understanding of how media, narrative and lived experience shape public conversation. Through advisory board roles, mentoring and strategic communications work, she helps women-led businesses and community leaders find their voice, share their stories with confidence and build influence. Her work reflects a strong belief in the power of storytelling to amplify underrepresented voices and create connection, understanding and lasting change.
