Monica Gray

2004 - 2006

Winemaker Monica Gray has built a career dedicated to showcasing the distinctive cool-climate wines of Orange, New South Wales. She lived at John XXIII College from 2004 to 2006 while studying a Bachelor of Arts at the Australian National University, where the friendships and independence she developed helped shape her confidence to pursue new opportunities. After graduating she began her career in the Australian Public Service, before a pivotal decision in 2012 led her to retrain and pursue winemaking.

Determined to change direction, Monica completed a Bachelor of Wine Science at Charles Sturt University and quickly established herself within the industry. She gained hands-on experience across wineries in Orange, Canberra and Mudgee, as well as completing international vintages in Rheinhessen, Germany, and the Northern Rhône in France. In 2021 she became Head Winemaker at See Saw Wine, where she leads the winemaking team and continues to champion the quality and character of the Orange wine region. Her work blends technical expertise with creativity, producing wines designed to be shared and enjoyed around the table.

Monica is also a strong contributor to the broader wine community. She has served as a judge at regional and capital city wine shows, is an alumna of Wine Australia’s Future Leaders program, and has held governance roles including Board Director of the Australian Society of Viticulture and Oenology. Passionate about supporting the next generation of winemakers, she remains a committed advocate for early-career professionals within the industry.
