Nikita Waldron
2013 - 2014
Actor and writer Nikita Waldron has built a dynamic career across theatre, film and television. Of diasporic Indian and New Zealand heritage, she first studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) at the Australian National University, living at John XXIII College from 2013 to 2014. During this time she served on the Residents’ Association and directed and produced a college production of Louis Nowra’s COSI, which won Best Ensemble at the Canberra Area Theatre (CAT) Awards, with Nikita receiving nominations for Best Director and Best Production.
She later trained at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting, where she also served as President of the NIDA Student Council. Since graduating she has worked extensively in theatre, performing with major Australian companies including Sydney Theatre Company, Belvoir Theatre, the Sydney Opera House and the National Theatre of Parramatta. Her stage credits include productions such as The Tenant of Wildfell Hall, Rules for Living, Lord of the Flies, Mosquitoes, The Wolves and An Enemy of the People.
Alongside her theatre work, Nikita has appeared in feature films including Palm Beach, Top End Wedding and The Bystander Trials, as well as television productions such as Stan’s He Had It Coming, Home and Away, The Letdown and Random and Whacky. She is also an emerging playwright and screenwriter. Her play AMBER won ATYP’s Rebel Wilson Comedy Commission in 2021 and premiered to critical acclaim at The Old Fitz Theatre in 2025, with television producers now attached. Her debut play Falling was shortlisted for Playwriting Australia’s Max Afford Award, reflecting her growing influence as both a performer and writer within Australia’s creative industries.
