Shawn Liew

2004 - 2005

Diplomat Shawn Liew serves with Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, representing Australia in international engagement and public service. She arrived at the Australian National University and John XXIII College in 2004, initially imagining a future in diplomacy. Graduating during the Global Financial Crisis led her first into roles in financial services and consulting, where she spent nearly a decade developing expertise in strategy, governance and complex organisational environments.

Shawn later transitioned into public service, ultimately returning to the diplomatic path she had first envisioned as a student. She now serves as First Secretary at the Australian High Commission in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, where she represents Australia in a senior diplomatic capacity. In this role she manages protocol, program coordination and governance responsibilities while supporting initiatives that strengthen the bilateral relationship between Australia and Papua New Guinea.

Her work also contributes to education and development programs, including engagement with scholarship recipient initiatives and diplomatic events that foster long-term partnerships between the two countries. Through her work in Port Moresby, Shawn continues to advance Australia’s diplomatic relationships while supporting opportunities for education, collaboration and regional development.
